So, there I was at a store in the mall, browsing through Baby Trend car seats. The goods were extremely reasonable. The shopping experience left something to be desired. I couldn't go as far as to say that my time spent there was the lowest experience ever. I would like to think that I am broadly speaking an optimistic kind of guy. It's not often that I actually whine about anything. But that was just something that I wouldn't have chosen to spend my time doing if left to my own devices. In fact, if vampires were attacking the county, and the mall were the only safe place, I may just offer my throat up and give up garlic on my pizzas. But oddly enough, I was there anyway.

I think that everyone these days is a pessimist. If your outlook is bleak, all it brings you is yet another mark against you in a situation that you dislike to start out with. It makes no sense. I dislike shopping intensely. But how high can browsing through a bunch of Baby Trend car seats actually rate on the aggravation meter for anyone who thinks if himself as rational? There is most definitely a scale of irritation. Compare a broken TV to a broken television because it falls on your foot.
I got a front seat look at a negative outlook on everything growing up. My dad was like that. Everything got to him. He went around bothered. No matter how hard I try, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I definitely feel that I have the same tendencies. He would never tolerate an entire day of browsing through Baby Trend car seats though. He would have lost his mind and started screaming about not having any intention of spending his day in a Baby Trend car seats store at all. The particular item was irrelevant. He would have gotten that way over anything at all, from a shaving kit to a jacket. There would be no difference. The fact that he was in a shop at all was enough to get him going. I have never once seen him willingly or easily shop. It was humorous.
Since I'm talking about it, I just want to put this out there for you - I do not take it to this level! I just have a distaste for it. If anything is needed around the house, I have been known to go get it. Every now and then, even without any urging needed. Spending a second of your time being truly upset over Baby Trend car seats is no way to live, in my book. He had a disagreement with my mother over that once. It wasn't major, but enough to get my attention, even at that age. They were just not getting along. He had driven her around to several shops all day, but he flat out refused to go into any of them with her. She asked him to go around with us at every store, but he had other things in mind about how he would spend his time there.
She dug into him by comparing him to me, as far as loyalty goes, and telling him that I went around with her.
Even at the time, I thought that was exaggerating the matter. You can never say whether anyone that young truly likes or dislikes anything a parent does. There was just no other option, period. That may be why I am so against the practice today. I was bred to dislike looking for goods. The way that conversation ended was what put the last nail in the coffin for me, I think.
"There is a very simple explanation for that, my dear. Very simple," he replied. "The kid is a nut!"
That's what ended the conversation. My mother would routinely refuse to continue speaking to him when he began to give her sarcastic answers. I'm surprised that they never left each other in all those years. Sometimes it seemed like they were just built to go in opposite directions. I haven't thought about that day in years. Now that I have, I am getting the sudden impulse to forcibly make my dad shop for Baby Trend car seats with me. I bet he wouldn't think he was so humorous then.
